STATE ERIE

9 WEST ERIE is designed to take advantage of maximum development on a very small, irregular site. Only 50 feet across the front, this project required a ground floor restaurant, upper floor parking and condominium residences with the challenge of designing a building up against an existing high rise.  The solution is a single-loaded corridor facing the street, providing an end cap to the block and providing expansive views into the surrounding residential area to the north. Taking advantage of the full pre-cast concrete structure, the building is a forthrightly detailed modernist expression of glass and concrete.

The project contains an 8,000 square foot signature Japanese steak house on the ground floor, three floors of parking enclosed with translucent channel glass for both daylighting and a softly lit façade at night, and ten floors of condominiums that contain sixty dwellings. The building is designed to obtain LEED Certification.
